Ensuring Business Continuity: Augmenting or Replacing Your In-House FileMaker Team

When Claris FileMaker becomes a critical part of your business operations, having a robust support plan is essential. Many organizations rely on in-house FileMaker developers who have built bespoke applications that streamline workflows, enhance productivity, and add significant business value. However, these developers often juggle multiple responsibilities, from operational management to IT support, making it challenging for them to focus solely on maintaining and improving the system.

At DataTherapy, we frequently assist businesses facing these challenges by providing expert support, guidance, and continuity planning. Here’s how we can help:

Succession Planning: Ensuring a Smooth Handover

If your in-house FileMaker developer is planning to transition into a different role, leave the company, or retire, it’s crucial to have a structured handover process. Losing the sole architect of your custom system can leave your business vulnerable to knowledge gaps and operational disruptions.

Our certified Claris FileMaker development team specializes in seamlessly integrating into existing environments, shadowing current developers, and rapidly understanding the nuances of your system. We ensure continuity by providing a phased transition plan, allowing for a smooth transfer of knowledge and responsibilities—minimizing risk and downtime for your business.

Coaching & Mentoring: Bridging Knowledge Gaps

The landscape of custom software development has evolved significantly over the last two decades. While your in-house developer may excel at data modeling, report building, or scripting in FileMaker, they may not have the bandwidth to master web development, server management, security best practices, or AI-driven automation.

DataTherapy provides expert coaching and mentoring to complement your existing skills. With a diverse team of professionals specializing in different aspects of the Claris FileMaker platform and related technologies, we help businesses stay ahead of the curve. Whether you need guidance on performance optimization, integration with third-party systems, or best practices for scaling your solution, we offer tailored support to help your team thrive.

Disaster Recovery Planning & Sickness Cover: Minimizing Risk

Even the most well-structured IT teams can face unexpected disruptions. Whether it’s a hardware failure, a sudden illness, or an unforeseen absence, losing key technical personnel can put your business operations at risk.

A significant portion of our clients leverage DataTherapy’s robust cloud hosting infrastructure to ensure business continuity. However, migrating a FileMaker system originally designed for an on-premises server to the cloud requires expert planning. Our team has executed hundreds of successful migrations, ensuring optimal performance, security, and reliability. Unlike an internal team learning on the job, we bring years of experience and best practices to the process—eliminating costly mistakes and downtime.

Additionally, our flexible support plans ensure that you always have expert coverage in case of sickness or emergencies, preventing disruption to critical business processes.

Secure Your FileMaker Future with DataTherapy

If your business depends on Claris FileMaker, ensuring long-term support, stability, and scalability is non-negotiable. Whether you’re looking for a full transition from in-house development to an external consultancy, or simply need additional support, mentoring, or redundancy planning, DataTherapy is here to help.

Don’t wait until a crisis forces your hand—proactively secure your FileMaker future today. Contact DataTherapy for a free initial consultation and discover how we can help safeguard, enhance, and future-proof your business-critical systems.

The Claris FileMaker Server 21.1.4 update is now available and includes important fixes that address known issues from previous versions: Key Fixes 1. Field definitions incorrectly read from cache. A bug introduced in version 21.0 caused field definitions to be incorrectly cached, resulting in symptoms such as: Empty related fields Missing value lists and indexes “Insufficient privileges (error -9)” messages 2. Windows only: Server-side script sessions limited by CPU cores. Version 21.1.3 limited simultaneous server-side script sessions to the number of CPU cores on Windows. This impacted I/O-bound environments by unnecessarily queuing sessions. 21.1.4 resolves this by allowing up to 50 concurrent script sessions on Windows before queueing begins—regardless of CPU cores. These sessions may be triggered by schedules, OData, or Perform Script on Server (PSoS). Note: This behavior is not controlled by the AllowPSoS setting. Claris Recommends: To ensure system stability, it is advised to limit active clients to 40 - 45 simultaneous sessions. Exceeding 50 may result in delays, memory overload, or session hangs.
