When it comes to building custom business applications, speed of development is a key: for developers it means being able to develop new solutions quickly and for management it means that development is cheaper.
The FileMaker platform received a major boost in v14 when the new Script Workspace interface was first introduced - arguably the single most significant improvement to the platform over the last 10 years. The FileMaker v15 Script Workspace further builds upon this new cornerstone of the platform by adding:
- Colour coding errors in scripts when imported from another file, to highlight incompatibilities or broken/deprecated references for example.
- More script steps now show additional configuration information in-line, making it substantially easier to spot potential mistakes.
If you are consulting developers like ourselves, or if you are an in-house FileMaker developer then you probably spend at least half of your time working within the Script Workspace and so making yourself just 5% more efficient can potentially save you hundreds of development hours over the course of the year.
Despite the potential efficiency gains in updating, if you are still running an older FileMaker version then the breadth of changes can be intimidating to get up to speed with - if you are not sure where to start you can always contact our consulting Team for a mentoring session.
